As the story goes

Here is a story told to my kids and I from Grandpa Jerry: I think the kids were a bit smaller at the time of the story but this picture made me think of it. When Grandpa Shorty and Grandma Betty moved from north of Martin to the ranch at Belvidere there was a house on the place but was not in good shape. They moved in but it was so infested with mice, bugs, and other rodents that Grandma Betty could not take it. She fixed up the chicken coup so they could all live there until Shorty could get the new house built. They also had baby chickens so they all shared the place half for the chickens and half for the family. Jerry and Howie had been born by then, so all four lived in the chicken house. One day Great Grandpa was visiting and Jerry and Howie were making a lot of racket. Great Grandpa told them to be good or he would hang them on the wall. Sure enough they kept up the mischief and so Great Grandpa put them in a gunny sack and hung them on a nail on the wall. According to Jerry, Howie screamed and screamed until he was almost deaf.

I remember hearing these stories too about the chicken coop... Do you remember how we used it for our playhouse when we were kids?
